XP Host, Vbox 1.6.2, fresh Ubuntu 8.04 -> Ubuntu hangs at boot time -> fixed in 1.6.4

Description

Hi,

this happens now every second or third time when starting a fresh installed Ubuntu in a VBOX on an XP home host (SP3):

Ubuntu boot just hangs and host processor usage goes up to 100% (for one processor).

My hardware: Processor: AMD Turion 64 X2 1,6GHz Chipset: nVidia C51MV+MCP51 RAM: 2GB DDR2 667MHz Display: 15,4" WXGA Graphics: nVidia GeForce? Go 7600 256MB

This is not nice. Basically VBox is unusable this way. So this defect must be very high priority.

If needed I can provide upload of the virtual hard disk file with the installation or I am also able to give you access to my computer for debugging.

Please could you attach a VBox.log for a session when the load is high?

AMD Athlon X2 BE 2300 1,91Ghz 3,5GB Ram

merlin1104, your problem is different (Guru meditation, unexpected pagefault in guest). Though both reporters are using an AMD CPU ...

AMD-V is unstable in 1.6.2. Wait for 1.6.4.
